More than Just Automobiles: Plastic Molding Capabilities Run the Gamut

Sep 28, 2020

Plastic Molding Development in Sterling Heights, Michigan was recently asked to help with the plastic components of a ski lift. A general ski lift is shown in this image.

When most people think of PMD, they think of plastic molding for automobile parts. It’s true that about 90 percent of our work is with the automotive industry, but we can do so much more here at our Sterling Heights, Michigan facility.

Some of our short run or testing projects have been really enjoyable too!

Let’s take, for instance, the glow-in-the-dark Jason Voorhees masks we made for a customer just in time for Halloween sales.

In fact, we just received another exciting order that we are looking forward to completing: the plastic components of ski lift chairs. It should be fun!

Here are just a few other examples of the projects we have completed here at PMD:

  • Pencil boxes
  • Salad tongs
  • Household storage containers
  • Household wastebaskets
  • Washing machine baskets for a major appliance brand
  • Trash cans for a major household brand

PMD is known for plastic parts for automobiles, but we accomplish much more here. Household trash containers are only one example of the other plastic parts we mold.

So you see, as long as you have a mold for a plastic part, you can bring it into our molding facility for short run production, to check out the material and see how it works, or to perfect the mold.

The next time you need to test or produce plastic parts — whether it’s for automobiles, household utensils, or just about anything else — think of Plastic Molding Development in Sterling Heights. We’re here for all your plastic injection molding testing needs, and we have 10 Van Dorn and Wittmann Battenfeld machines with various capabilities.
